REPORT OF THE OFFICIAL INAUGURATION OF THE NEWLY ELECTED EXECUTIVE MEMBERS OF INUA EYET IKOT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (IIYDA) ON SATURDAY 24TH JANUARY, 2009 @ BASKETBALL COURT, IBENO BEACH

To whom much is given, much is also expected. Today Saturday 24th January, 2009 is a unique day in the history of Inua Eyet Ikot Village as the first and newly elected president and the executive members of Inua Eyet Ikot Youth Development Association (IIYDA) are been sworn into office. These are young, talented and dynamic men that have the Community and the youth at heart.

Present at the event is Engr. Samuel Ekpeyong, Barr. Idopise Enyina of Abasi-Odiong Chambers, Lady Charity Anthony Effiong—Woman leader of Mkpanak, Chief (Dr.) Okon Sunday Akpanowong, Lady Rose Austin Edet Akpan—Woman leader of Inua Eyet Ikot, Hon. (Prince) Paddy O. Eshiet—National Chairman of “De SUPREME SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION (DSSA)”, Chief Isaac Francis Akpakip—Chairman Inua Eyet Ikot Town Council, Mrs. Kingsley Itrechio, Elder Aniefiok Charlie representing Apostle M. A. Ekong of The Apostolic Church, Mr. Kingsley Asukwo—the incumbent general secretary of “Mkpanak Youth Development Association (MYDA)”, Prince Samuel Abakam among other dignitaries.
Those sworn in are;

2. Mr. Okon Etia Bassey - Vice President
3. Mr. Okon Samuel Akpakip - Secretary General
4. Prince John Kingsley Itrechio - Speaker/Assist. Secretary
5. Mr. Willy John - Treasurer
6. Mr. Aniefiok Edem Etim - Financial Secretary
7. Mr. Gabriel Gregory Efah - P.R.O
8. Mrs. Martha Sylvester Okon - Director of Welfare
9. Mrs. Glory Ekah - Auditor I
10. Mr. Paul Nwaenang - Auditor II
11. Bassey Bassey Abakam - Chief Whip
The President in his address reiterate his mission thus, “We intend to explore both human and materials resources to uplift the present malady faced by our youth. We will not spare both the Multinational and Government in presenting our case. Our interest lies on four major areas which are; Education, Capacity Development, Health care & Infrastructural Development. We shall pursue this to a logical conclusion until our interests are met.”
He further gave hope to his people by assuring them that as a youth activist, he has watch his terrain carefully, gather facts, figures and data to enable him make vital and necessary correction where it is needed. He also states that, for his administration to accomplish her mission all hands must be on deck, we must put our idea first before ambition. He advises the youth to shun violence, militancy, armed robbery and all social vices that are detrimental to growth & development of the Community.
The ceremony which started at about 15hrs with opening prayer by Mr. O. E. Bassey came to a close by 19hrs with a closing prayer by Prince Samuel Abakam.
Before the closing prayer, the President thank everyone that grace the occasion and prayed God to bless them all why beseeching them to continue to support and pray to God for his administration, saying thus “we know that this is an herculean task, we shall gather all our arsenals if need be, we shall liaise with the security agencies, leaders of thought, politicians, clergy and other youth organizations to propagate our views.”
The event was colorful and successful.
